5/12/2008 PASMO Card Services: Ensuring Japanese Kids Don't Play Hooky Gearlog Mariella Moon An RFID-enabled smart card used in Japan to pay for train travel is being used to track the whereabouts of school children. The card, known as PASMO, is also being used to pay for meals in school cafeterias, and the card's maker says plans are underway to provide parents and guardians a means of tracking the children based on their use of the card, whether in school or within the rail system.
